Video of rare 'Fire Tornado' seen in Brazil

A rare fire tornado has been seen in the Brazilian state of Sao Paolo. A whirlwind of flame, spiralling several metres high, danced across burning fields, bringing traffic to a halt on a nearby highway. This unusual phenomenon has been caused by a combination of wildfires and strong dry winds following weeks of drought in the country. Authorities in Brazil are struggling to contain the fires and have banned farmers from burning waste from the sugar cane harvest.

Een grote draaikolk van vuur. Zo zag de vuurtornado eruit die dinsdag over een veld in Brazilië raasde. In het Zuid-Amerikaanse land is het al weken erg warm en droog. Het heeft er zelfs al drie maanden niet geregend. Volgens deskundigen is het er nu net zo droog als in de Sahara-woestijn. Doordat er ook een harde wind waait ontstaan er veel branden, en nu dus zelfs een brandende tornado! De brandende windhoos verdween weer bijna net zo snel als hij gekomen was, maar zorgde voor een hoop opschudding. Door de rook konden automobilisten weinig meer zien en ontstond een grote file. Er raakte niemand gewond door de tornado.
